Breastfeeding Classes

I remember the flush of cheek,

the exquisite pull and tug

as my baby boy latched on

kneading me, needing me.

We rocked and crooned,

undulating with with love

his tiny fluttering mouth

and my breast

festive with its swell of milk

and blue veins like tattoos of motherhood.

Even now as I lay them down,

their chubby thighs now

stretched into lanky twisting limbs,

I remember that ache of love,

the rush and pull and wave

of connection, as the moonlight

shines on their lips.
