Emotional Benefits:
This course will emphasis mind/body awareness to help develop a woman's sense of balance within herself and her changing body. Deep discussion will be encouraged to enable women to share their feelings, discuss their fears and rejoice in the joys of motherhood. Mindfulness meditation will be practiced to strengthen each woman's ability to be fully present throughout her pregnancy, labor and birth. This practice will also help women reduce the stress and anxiety often felt during this transitional time.
Physical Benefits:
Prenatal yoga encourages flexibility, circulation, strength and balance, all essential during the childbearing year. Yoga allows women to become more in tune and accepting of the rapid changes her body will go through. -Minimize and relieve discomforts of pregnancy. -Release tension fatigue and stress from body and mind. -Encourage body awareness and physical stamina. -Tone body, exercise internal organs, enhance circulation, calm nervous system. -Connect with baby, improve flexibility, improve coordination and posture, and increase energy. Prenatal Yoga is suitable for most fitness levels and all stages of pregnancy. A letter from your doctor or midwife authorizing yoga, consent form and medical history form is necessary prior to starting the course.
Taught by Laurel Wilson, CLC, CCCE, CLD, CLE, CPPI, CPPFE. Laurel has supported women in the childbearing year for over twelve years. She believes in a holistic, mindful approach and feels that pregnancy is a sacred rite of passage in a woman's life.
